  • Overnight on the Tany 12/8/2012  The Overnight on the Taney was a success. All the scouts really enjoyed the overnight in Baltimore.

  • Trip: Assategue Island May 18-20th Please have this permission slip signed with the appropriate fee by Monday, May 14th at the troop meeting.  If you have any questions, let me know.  Jim Hensley has agreed to take the trailer but we will need additional drivers.  The weather can fluctuate and it could still get rather cool.  Plus the mosquitoes take pints of blood at a time.  But the scenery, the wild horses, the sand and the fishing is about as good as Maryland gets.  See you there.   Jon Griffiths 301-717-3878

  • 2012-13 Activities and photo album names Troop 291 has had a very active 2012-13 year -- and we aren't quite done yet.   • 2012-03 Mulch Delivery Troop 291 VolunteersTHANKS to all parents and scouts who volunteered yesterday to support our troop 2012 mulch drive.  With everyone pulling together we were able to deliver over 5400 bags of mulch to 332 customers in around the Gaithersburg/North Potomac/Potomac/Rockville areas!  This effort was a terrific example of TEAMWORK from multiple crews: Scouts salesmanship, Logistics/Dispatch, Loaders, Drivers/Deliverers, Food, and Clean-up.A special thanks to the over 110+ volunteers who supported this event over the past two months to achieve our fundrising goal.Pictures are here.Regards,JeffTroop 291 Mulch Coordinator

  • 5 Scouts go from Cub to Eagle Together. Eagle Court of Honor for Sam Dennis, Chase Douglas, Bo Hayward, James Keenan, and Taylor Montgomery.   ~200 family and friends joined in the celebration of these 5 scouts who were together since cub scouts.More pictures here.See the program for the court of honor below.See Gaithersburg Gazzette Article:

  • 2011-07 Seabase Outer Island Adventure On a sunny and hot day in July, 12 scouts and 4 adults from Boy Scout Troop 291 of North Potomac paddled war canoes over 6 miles of open ocean than were forced to swim ashore to Big Munson Island in the Florida Keys with nothing but what they could carry.  For 5 days and 4 nights the Scouts lived off of the food and water they swam ashore with and the personal items that could fit in a 12” by 24” dry bag.  Other than a flashlight, the scout crews had no electronics with them, not even a watch! The adventure was actually the “Crusoe Outer Island Adventure” run out of the Boy Scouts of American’s Florida National ...
